This is not a pleasant film, but it is excellent. Immediately after seeing Samson and Delilah, I thought it was terrible. Just because I thought it was horrible, a week later, I am convinced it is brilliant. There are many different types of movies. Some are immensely entertaining, but immediately forgettable. Like Avatar. Others stick with you, no matter how much you like that because they demonstrate a truth about the world they want was not so spot on. Samson and Delilah is based on real life experiences of director Warwick Thornton and present a part of Australia that most people, myself included, is suspected but not really desire. Now, what the hell do we do about it?
